  • Dec 1914 - Invalided home with Typhoid
  • 10 May 1915 - Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 12th Battalion, Rifle Brigade (Gazette)
  • Jul 1915 - Arrived back in France

Circumstances of Death

Cecil is listed as being killed in action during the Battle of Loos on 25th September 1915. The 12th Battalion war diary entry for that day is transcribed below along with an extract from his Harrow School obituary (click here) which gives context to his service.
