Circumstances of Death

Alfred is listed as being killed in action on 15th September 1916. His Canadian Army "Circumstances of Casualty" card states the following:

"During an action in the Vicinity of Le Sars, on the morning of 15th September 1916, after reaching the objective, he left the trenches to succour and try to bring in a wounded comrade. Whilst rendering first aid to his comrade he was struck by an enemy sniper's bullet and instantly killed."
