Circumstances of Death

Sydney is listed as having died of wounded received in action on 20th July 1916 at the No 1 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux to which he had been evacuated. The war diary does not list the names of the wounded and therefore we are unable to say with any certainty when or where Sydney was wounded but it was most likely to have been at some time between the 15th and 18th July during the attacks at Mametz Wood / Bazentin le Petit.
