Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

It is not known why Charles died. The fact that his Register of Effects states he served less than 6 months prior to his death and the absence of any Pension and Medal Cards suggests he never served abroad. Further the 2nd/7th Battalion did not arrive in France until 1916 which tends to confirm the above. Therefore it is fairly safe to assume that Charles died from disease or perhaps the result of a training accident.
