Previous Miliary Service Record (1905 to 1912)
- 03 Jul 1905 - Enlisted in Warwick as Pte 9882 in the 5th Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment aged 17 (falsely stated he was 18yrs and 1mn old)
- 13 Sep 1907 - Transferred to Royal Navy aged as a 2nd Cooks Mate Service Number 347861 gave date of birth as 12 June 1887 (see above & below)
- 12 Sep 1908 - Promoted to Cooks Mate serving on HMS Canopus (also served on HMS Neptune & HMS Excellent)
- 11 Jan 1912 - Invalided out of Navy with syphillis

Percy is listed as being killed in action on the 18th September 1918. The 1st Battalion war diary entry for the period 16th to 19th September are transcribed below along with a link to the Report on Operations mentioned therein. In the line near Vermand - 16 Sep 1918: Battalion marched to bivouacs in Vermand arriving about 6pm. In the line - 17 Sep 1918: On the morning of the 17th in conjunction with operations carried out by the right flank Division. The Battalion post was straightened by the right Coy establishing a post on the high ground in M.25.c. In the line - 18 Sep 1918: At 5.20am the Battalion attacked in conjunction with troops on the right & left. Details of the fight are shown in the “Report on Operations 17/9/18 to 24/9/18 attached – click here to read it. In the line - 19 Sep 1918: The Bn remained in the positions gained on the 18th. Nothing of importance happening during the day. |
