Reginald is listed as being killed in action on 15th October 1918. The 2nd Battalion war diary entries for the period 14th to 16th October are transcribed below. Klaphoek - 14 Oct 1918: The Bn arrived in the assembly area west of the Menin-Roulers Road and dug in east of Klaphoek. There was 2 hours rest in the positions. At 5am the enemy shelled the area. Seeing this some Companies took their men forward of the road. At Zero 5.30am the Bn advanced with Y and Z Coys in the front wave. There was a thick mist resulting in very considerable loss of direction. The Bn re-organised north of Moorseele and the advance continued. Gulleghem was strongly held by machine-guns and a defensive flank was formed. Casualties – Other Ranks: 8 killed, 76 wounded, 7 missing & 3 to Hospital. Lt F W Parry, 2/Lt’s L B Holloway and A Ewens wounded. Moorseele - 15 Oct 1918: The 87th Brigade continued the advance [of the 14th]. Casualties – Other Ranks: 2 killed, 1 wounded, 3 to hospital Courtrai – 16 Oct 1918: The Bn marched east to take over positions from the 1st K.O.S.B between Cuerne and Courtrai, relief being completed by 18.00. The Lys River now lay between us and the enemy and all bridges had been destroyed. The 9th Division had succeeded in crossing near Harlebeke and two platoons of X Coy were ordered across to support them. Casualties – Other Ranks: 5 wounded & 5 wounded at duty, 1 to hospital.
