Circumstances of Death

Richard is listed as dying of wounds on 6 Aug 1917. His Register of Effects record states that he died "in the field". He was buried at Mendinghem Cemetery which was used by 4 Casualty Clearing Stations. The 106th Brigade war diary indicates that Richard was most likely wounded in the late evening of 5 Aug 1917 and the period 2nd to 6th of August is transcribed below along with an obituary from the Leamington Spa Courier
