Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Thomas is listed as being killed in action on 5 Oct 1918. Information about his death is scant and the below is a combination of information extracted from The Story of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment by 1) C.L. Kingsford and the battalion war diary.

The 1/8th Royal Warwickshire, which has returned from Italy in September and had been assigned to the 75th Brigade, 25th Division, Fourth Army, came into the line on October 5. Advancing through Bony, they took part in the capture of the position Beaurevoir-Ponchaux on October 7.

War Diary - 5 Oct 1918: At 02.30am battalion marched into the line at Lormisett to support the 74th Inf Bde.

War Diary 6 Oct 1918: A&C Coys were ordered to support the Sherwood Foresters in the vicinity of Guisancourt Farm and to assist them in the attack on this strong point. B&D Coys moved to support the Yorks Regt at Belleville Farm. The advance of the companies under heavy artillery and MG fire was superb and the G.O.C the 7th Bde complemented Lt Col Whitehouse on the splendid way in which the advance was carried out. END
