Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

William was killed during the successful capture of a Bulgarian stronghold called the Roche Noire salient in Macedonia. There is little detail about these actions on the internet and the war diaries for the Macedonia Campaign are not yet digitised.
