Enlisted and Previous Service

Henry originally enlisted on 7 Sep 1914 at Rugby but on 8 Oct 1914 he was discharged due to being medically unfit. From his Register of Effects / War Gratuity we can say that he again enlisted at Coventry at some time between 12 Nov 1915 and 14 Dec 1915.

Circumstances of Death

Henry is listed as being killed in action on 11 Mar 1917. He was originally buried at map reference 62c.I.31.d.1.1 which is directly south of Biaches (map it here) before his remains were exhumed on or about 28 May 1920 and reburied 7 km away at Assevillers.

The battalion war diary entry for 11 Mar 1917 is very brief and is transcribed below.
