Wilson is listed as being killed in action on 7 May 1917, the war diary, transcribed below reveals that he was killed by enemy shellfire: Oppy - 7.5.17: The 13th Infantry Brigade side slip to right and take over from 31st Division the front line system as far south as B.18.a.90.20 - Sunken Road. The Battalion take over this new portion of line & hand over to 2/KOSB's that portion of the old line from D Post inclusive to E Post. Enemy has been systematically shelling the whole of our front line system, especially the portion of line held by D Coy, U.13 Arleux Support, new front line trench toward D Post & CT's. Sec Lt Salisbury killed by shellfire; 16 other ranks and killed and 30 other ranks wounded, by shellfire. END |
