Other Military Information

  • 27 Jul 1918 - Thomas was admitted to the 2/1st North Midland Field Ambulance, No. 2 Ambulance Train with gunshot wound of the upper extremities. He was Transferred to Sick Convoy on the same day.
  • 27 Aug 1918 - Casualty list shows he was entitled to wear Wounded Stripe on Uniform
  • 16 Nov 1918 - Casualty List shows Thomas as Wounded with Shell Shock
  • The Warwickshire Roll of Honour book states that Thomas was awarded the Belgium Croix de Guerre for "rescuing wounded men whilst under heavy machine gun fire in 1917".

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

We are not sure when and where Thomas received the wounds that led to his death in 1919 at the Lord Derby Military Hospital in Warrington.

We believe that Thomas was born Thomas George Howell in Walworth, London and later became Thomas George Howell Everitt / Everett. In the 1901 and 1911 census returns he is listed as a Nurse Child which today means Foster Child

  • 1911 - Lived in Lillington with Thomas and Mary Owen
  • 1919 - His army pension record list next of kin as Mary Owen - Foster mother
