Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
William was killed in action during the attack on Ismail Oglu Tepe which was part of the wider battle of Chunuk Bair. Two companies of the 7th Bn South Staffs were ordered to "furnish the line between the 5 Gurkhas and 9 Worcestershire Regt. Lieut Col. Andrews was wounded and seventeen other ranks killed, wounded or missing". |
