Harry is listed as being killed in action on 25th April 1916. The 9th Battalion war diary entries for the period 23rd to 26th April are transcribed below and it is assumed from them that Harry was killed whilst on a working party. Details of casualties are not given. The Narrows - Qalat Saleh – 23 April 1916: Major E.E.D. Henderson the North Staffordshire Regiment took over command of the Battalion. Capt S Munnik took over duties of 2nd in Command and Lt T.W. Holmden the duties of Adjutant. The Narrows - Qalat Saleh – 24 April 1916: Battalion rested. A working party of 100 men under Capt L.M. Nash worked on a strong point behind firing line from 8pm to 12 midnight. The Narrows - Qalat Saleh – 25 April 1916: Battalion rested, similar working party under Capt S. Munnick.
