Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
John is listed as having died of wounds on 24 Dec 1915. The war diary shows that the battalion spent the whole month of December near Laventie but is not really specific about casualties and we cannot say on which day he was wounded. We do know that he was taken to, and died at, the No 7 Casualty Clearing Station at Merville which is to the west of Laventie.
