Circumstances of Death

Roland is listed as dying of wounds on 26th September 1917 and was buried at Gwalia Cemetery. The cemetery was opened in July 1917 and, according to the CWGC was not used by any Field Ambulances or Casualty Clearing Stations and so we are assuming that Roland died shortly after being wounded. Click here for details of the Treatment of Casualties.
