  • Albert served in the King's Royal Rifle Corp's from 05 Jan 1904 to 8 Apr 1907 when he was transferred to the Army Reserve
  • Albert was wounded on 31 Oct 1914 in France and transferred to England a month later on 30 Nov 1914, he returned to France on 11 Mar 1915
  • Promoted to L/Corporal on 26 Apr 1915
  • Promoted to Corporal on 9 Aug 1915
  • Promoted to Sergeant on 2 Dec 1915
  • Albert transferred to the Royal Flying Corps as an Ariel Gunner on 23 Mar 1917

Circumstances of Death

Albert is listed as being killed in action on 26th April 1917 after receiving a gun shot wound to his thorax. He was the gunner in an Royal Aircraft Factor being flown by

April 1917 became known as Bloody April and the RFC lost 245 aircraft and 211 aircrew killed or missing during the month. More here
