Circumstances of Death

Sidney is listed as dying of wounds on 4th March 1917 at either the 3rd Canadian Stationary Hospital or the 62nd (2/1st Northumbrian) Casualty Clearing Station both of which were using Doullens Cemetery for burials in March 1917.

We do not know exactly when Sidney was originally wounded. The 8th Battalion spent the whole of February and early March on working parties, in the trenches and camps in the Miraumont area and they incurred casualties on a number of days during that time.
