- Pre-war Frederick was a member of the Territorial Army, 2nd Home Counties Brigade, Royal Field Artillery and achieved rank of Battery Sgt Major
- He arrived in France at the rank of Battery Quartermaster Sergeant
- He was Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 9th October 1915 (Gazette)
- He was Promoted to Lieutenant effective 1st June 1916 (Gazette)
Circumstances of Death

Frederick is listed as having died of wounds on 13th August 1917. The 108th Brigade war diary for 12th August is transcribed below. Potijze - 12 Aug 1917: Ammunition [Column] both officers being wounded by shellfire on the Potijze Road. The War Diary casualty list for the month of August states that Capt A.W. Dobbs was wounded and 2nd Lt F.W.F. Skinner died of wounds. |

Newspaper obituaries published in the Leamington Courier, however it is most likely that he is best remembered on memorials in the
Hastings area.
