  • The town of Deolali where George died is the origin of the phrase "going doollaly" aka "doollalt tap" which arose from the boredom, intense heat, and long waiting 
    periods for troops awaiting transport back to Britain.

Circumstances of Death

George died of Septicemic Plague on the 31st October 1917 at the 34th Welsh General Hospital in Deolali, India.
