Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
The battalion were in the front line near Ablainzevelle and on the day Arthur is reported to have been killed there is a one line entry in the battalion war diary
"Another very hot day. Artillery and aircraft on both sides were active during the morning". From that it is assumed that Arthur would have been killed by either artillery or ariel bombardment. Casualties were not given on a daily basis and the diary states that 4 men were killed and 47 wounded during the whole month of May.
