Circumstances of Death

Frederick's death is recorded in his Register of Effects as "presumed on 16th February 1917. He was originally buried at St. Martin's M.C.E at St. Quentin - map reference 62b.S.23.c.5.4 and his remains were moved to St. Souplet sometime around 1923. However the war diary for the 16th makes no mention of casualties and the Battalion were in Brigade Reserve not the front line.
