Harry is listed as being killed in action on 4 Jun 1917. The battalion war diary for that day is transcribed below. Beaumetz 4/6/1917: No movement was possible in the front line by day and very little movement behind. The two platoons of the support Company were very heavily shelled in the afternoon - over 200 5.9's falling in their area. Work was continued on the wire and improving the front positions each night. Weather - a very hot day Casualties:- 2 OR Killed; 3 OR Wounded. |
