  • The 3rd Battalion, Cheshire Regiment was a training unit, it remained in the UK throughout the war, providing drafts for other battalions. The Long Long Trail
  • John is thought to have been a training and recruitment officer. We have not been able to find an entry in the London Gazette for his appointment
  • It is not known when John joined the Army but a newspaper article shows that he served on a Leamington Spa Grand Jury in October 1914

Circumstances of Death

John died of cancer of the Prostate Gland on 25th January 1916 at his home, "Gaydon", Copt Heath, Knowle. (Death Certificate)
