| John died on 11 Mar 1919 at the Southampton University War Hospital from the effects of a gunshot wound to the abdomen and buttock with a compound fracture of the pubis and tuber ischii, complicated by pneumonia, 4 months 3 days and 3/4 hour after being wounded in France and evacuted back to the UK. |
