James is listed as being killed in action on 21 Feb 1915. The war diary carries very scant information, it shows that the Battalion were in the front lines trenches for 9 successive days before being relieved and the period 13th to 22nd Feb 1915 is transcribed below:

News has been received thqat Private James Booker of the 3rd Worcesters, who lives at Crabbs Cross, has been killed while serving as a look-out from the trenches. He was a cycle polisher and was a native of Alcester. He enlisted in September last had been in fighting line about six weeks. He leaves a widow and three daughters.
