Notes:

Records held by the Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum show that Albert was a Transport Driver in 'A' Company, 4th Section 100th Bn. (Warwick and South Notts) MGC.

It is also likely that Albert survived the sinking of the Leasowe Castle Troop Ship by a German U Boat. Click here for more

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Adderley's book The Warwickshire Yeomanry in the Great War books lists Albert as being killed in action on 23 Sep 1918 not the 21 Sep 1918 as listed by the CWGC. However, and, following consultation with the Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum we now believe that the entry in Adderley's book is incorrect and that Albert was the one "other rank" killed on 21 Sep 1918. The battalion war diary entries from both days are transcribed below.

20.9.1918: The battalion moved to a new position near Sainte Emilie and south of the Sainte Emilie - Ronssoy Road

A battery moved to F 2 C 8.7. Intermittent fire was carried out with all available guns on Braeton Post and trench system between F.11.a.7.8 and F.5.c.2.7 until 10pm. Zero hour 12pm.
