Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion were in the trenches near Les Boeufs between the 13th and 16th November 1916 and their lines were subject to enemy bombardment on the 14th, 15th and 16th. We cannot, at this time, say for sure on which day William was wounded. Prior to being in the lines at Les Bouefs the battalion was away from the front for around 6 weeks and it is unlikely that William was wounded during that time. After being wound he was taken to either 34th or 2/2nd London Casualty Clearing Stations at Meault where he died.
