Circumstances of Death

Daniel is listed as dying of wounds on 14 May 1918. An article in the Warwick Advertised states that he died on the same day as he was admitted to the 4th Casualty Clearing Station at Pernois. The very brief 8th Battalion war diary entry for the period 13th to 16th May is transcribed below.

13-14-15-16 May 1918 - Nine Elms Trench: An inter company relief was carried out as ordered, during this tour in the line much gas shelling was resorted to by the enemy. [End]
