Circumstances Leading to Death

John is listed as having died of heatstroke on 10th July 1917. The 9th Battalion war diary for July shows soldiers falling sick on an almost daily basis but does not refer to any deaths so we assume that he was taken ill out in the field and died some time later in a Military Hospital in Baghdad.

The war diary does mention temperatures reaching as high as 122f.
