Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

John died of pnuemonia on 17th February 1917 at the No 1 Casualty Clearing Station at Chocques which used Chocques Military Cemetery for its burials. The following obituary was published in the Stratford Herald on Friday 2nd March 1917

PRIVATE J. PEPLOW

Mrs. J. Peplow of Shottery has just received intelligence of the death of her husband which took place in France on 17th ult. Peplow joined the 11th Warwicks on the 29th May and has seen service in the trenches. He had an attack of pneumonia and for some days was in hospital. The Chaplain in announcing his death to his widow says he was bright and hopeful to the end and that he will be buried in the British Soldiers' cemetery.
