Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
The war diary does not carry much information but the Brigade had been at Laventie for a number of weeks and on the day William was killed the German's destroyed the Brigade's Berkeley Observation Point by shelling it killing 1 officer and wounding another no mention is made of casualties among other ranks but that seems to be the norm for this unit.
