Circumstances of Death

Colin is listed as dying of wounds on 6 Sep 1918 at the Bevan Military Hospital in Sandgate, Kent. His service record shows that he died as a the result of gas burns after being caught by the explosion of a Mustard Gas shell on the 23 Aug 1918.

He was originally taken to 19th Casualty Clearing Station at Frevent, then transferred to the 5th General Hospital at Rouen and then evacuated to the Bevan Military Hospital at Sandgate, Kent where he died 2 weeks after being struck the shell explosion.
