Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Unfortunately the war dairy covering the period Dec 1917 to March 31st 1918 is missing, perhaps lost during the battle described above which was part of the Operation Michael in turn part of German Spring offensive when the German Army overran many Allied positions. We do not know where the Battery was but we do know that British and Australian, and in particular the Australian 4th Division, prevented the Germans capturing Villers-Bretonneux at that time.
