Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
from the war diary we have established that the 9th Battalion were stationed at or near Wadi Abu Khamsah in Iraq, that there had been no fighting for a number of days or weeks prior to his death and that nearly everyday soldiers were taken ill and sent to hospitals. We therefore assume that George died of one of the many diseases that killed so many soldiers in the Middle East.
