The 6th Battalion war diary is transcribed below and indicates that he was wounded on the 12 Jul 1916 as there are no recorded casualties on 13 Jul 1916. Bienvillers - 7th July 1916: Battn moved to Usna-Tara line E of Albert Usna - Tara line E of Albert - 8th July 1916: Battn moved to the front line trenches at night forming a defensive flank in event of hostile attack from Contalmaison. Casualties: 4 k[illed] & 14 w[ounded] Usna - Tara line E of Albert - 9th July 1916: Same positions as 8th.
