Most of the men named above were not local to Weston or indeed the South Warwickshire area but we will at some stage attempt to memorialise as if they were.
The Reformatory opened November 20, 1856 under the management of James and Harriet Shaddock with a first intake of 40 boys but within three years the building was expanded and another 30 boys were taken in. The Reformatory was effectively an agricultural school and the boys farmed the over 20 acres of land attached to the school. The school had good success in correcting the behaviour of some of it inmates which enabled them to emigrate and build new lives.
The Reformatory later (1910) adopted the title of the Weston Training School for Boys, often shortened to just Weston School but the school closed in 1928 and the buildings were turned into a Mental Health Facility. Click here for a longer history of Weston Training School.
